Ok guys, some help would be appreciated here.

Just starting out in Taekwondo and have been at it for a few months now and have gotten to speak to a few of the guys who train at the club i go to, the head instructor has a couple of black belt assistant instructors in the place, turns out the next highest grade in the place is blue belt/red tag and it took him 14 years to get this belt! he has been at the same place throughout and is just over halfway there, same place has one of the black belt grades with a proud boast that it took 12 weeks!?
i am no expert on this stuff but surely thats a bit extreme, 14 years for blue belt and 12 weeks for a black belt?

Someone please put me in the right frame here before i start handing over any more money
