| I guess I will go against the agreement here,
Under Vactian II, to be married outside the church and it be accepted the Bishop has to give his permission prior to the wedding. if they do not, it is not accepted, the church knows they are legally married, but not blessed by the church.
They do want them to marry in the church, but no longer require the non catholic to sign in writing to raise the children catholic, but do ask the catholic member to promise to raise the children catholic, the non catholic no longer has to make that promise.
If they marry outside the church without permission of the Bishop, untill the catholic partner confesses and has the wedding blessed by the church, they are not to take communion.
Some bishops and priests will also not baptise a child living in such a household.
I would strongly suggest you talk to your local diocese Bishop to know exactly what thier postion on this is. |
