| One approach to fees is to determine how much salary you want to try to make per year.
Break that down into income for a day. For instance, $50,000.00 per year is app $1,000.00 per week. But that allows only two weeks off (being self-employed trades off some undesirables, but it brings on some real challenges).
So a five-day work week would require a net income (salary) of app $200.00 per day just for salary. These are rough figures. You have to earn more than that to cover operating costs of the business and still bring in the salary.
In addition, sick days, personal days, and whatever holidays you take have to be accounted for.
Also, even though a fee for being onsite somewhere may seem high to a customer, there is much behind-the-scenes work. You do not have "billable hours" of eight per day every day.
Complicated, isn't it? I still choose that route, however, and am grateful for the opportunity to do so. |
