    Mini Doxie
To anyone who can answer this... I am a recent first time mini Doxie owner and was wondering why she has gained up to 9 pounds @ only 6 months of age. I take her for 2-3 mile walks everyday. She eats 2 sometimes 3 times a day (@ recommended servings) depending on activity level. I can't help but wonder if she's not a miniature. I was assured by the breeder that she is... and I do trust the breeder but there's lingering doubt. Is this abnormal... 6months and already 9 lbs?? SO troubled.

    Hi,
Have you asked your Vet this question? I can't give a good anwer about the weight, but her feeding should be judged by her weight, and the table of amounts to give, on the package of dog food.
Dry dog food is the best, twice a day. It has all the minerals and nutrients a dog needs. You didn't mention what you are feeding her.
The walks are great. Usually, a brisk 45 min. walk a day will take care of the exercise she needs.
Please ask your Vet his/her opinion on the weight gain.
Also, just for information, here is something you might be interested in:
I highly recommend a video by Ceaser Millan, a Professional Dog Behaviorist. He rehabilitates dogs, and trains people.

He has his own TV program, the Dog Whisperer, on the NGEO (National Geographic) channel, on Friday nights mainly, but also comes on some other days. This video is available from:
    Cesar Millan Center
I also ordered his new book, "Ceaser's Way", from Walmart online, around $15 US, and it's very good!

There are other good videos available on the web, but this one is really worth your attention.

I do wish you and she the best. Dogs are GREAT!
