Our poor Starby

Some of you already know that our Starby (Starbuck8) is in the hospital awaiting surgery.

She's a klutz, love her tons, but it's the truth. She tripped on a shovel, broke her leg in two places, broke her wrist and her eye is swollen shut.

She'll need surgery to fix her leg, it's the femur. She'll also need to recover after the surgery and she's on her own, just her and her dog Niki.

Understandably she's a bit down, worried about Niki, not sure what's going to happen.

Shaz gave me the idea to start a thread asking everyone to write a few words to Starby to wish her a speedy recovery and let her know that we're thinking of her.

So please, write a few words, I'll print them all out in a few days and send them to her. That should put a smile on her face.

No essay okay, I'll run out of paper!

Hey Starby, be sure to heal fast. We miss you so much on here... I never thought that the accident was so serious. I'm sure we'll find a solution for Niki, so don't too much worry about her for the time being, and think of healing quickly. You were the first one to welcome me when I entered your famous threads... Come back soon, okay?

Oh thats terrible news! Please tell her I hope she gets well soon. I sure hope someone can go check on her dog for her. Maybe you could contact the social services department of the hosptial and ask if a hospital volunteer could possibly go out to her home to feed the dog.

UPDATE:

I just got a call from Starby's friend. Starby is in rough shape, will probably be in the hospital for a month, possibly more. This is going to be a slow recovery, she will be needing help when she gets to come home.

Her friend is contacting Starby's family, telling them that they are going to have to pitch in, suck it up, she needs them now.

Niki is still at home, Starby's friend goes every morning to feed her, give her water, let her outside for a romp and bathroom break. Niki is not happy, she's never been alone before, but the friend cannot take her back to her house.

Starby's friend has been trying to get in touch with Starby's brother to tell him he has to take Niki until Starby comes back home. So far no luck, but Niki is getting the basics so no worries.

Starby's friend now has my email address and she promised to keep me posted on any new developments. As soon as I hear something, you'll hear it too.

That's it for now.

Ya, this is a bad situation. Starby really doesn't have anyone, only her one friend and a family that is less then helpful.

I'm going to talk to hubby, see if he would mind having Niki come stay with us. Starby's brother sometimes comes to Edmonton, if he would be willing to bring Niki up with him then I'll keep her here until Starby can take care of her again.

I could get in huge trouble if I do this, but I think I can juggle it. You see, where I live, you're only legally allowed 2 dogs, you need a special license to have more. Well, shhh, don't tell anyone, but I have 3 dogs, no special license. If I take in Niki that's 4 dogs. If someone complained, I could have all my dogs and Niki taken away from me.

I have to think this through.
