| Auditory Processing Diagnosis My daughter was diagnosed with a learning disability in auditory processing when she was in the 5th grade. This came only after I persistently pressured the school to do something for her in the way of services. She was never a behavior problem, so their tendency was to just pass her along to the next grade and ignore the trouble she was having with learning. Now she is 20 years old. She takes a few art type classes at the community college, but she is not maturing and doesn't follow instruction well enough to hold down a job. She is a very nice person, but looks and acts like a 12 or 13 year old. I'm sure there is something else going on with her development, but I haven't been able to get any help for her other than the college agreeing to follow her high school IEP. I checked into taking her to a specialist at UCLA, but the cost was extreme. Our medical provider has never been helpful and always just agreed with the school diagnosis. Any suggestions? |
