Growing Ivy

We have a large hill covered with ivy and want to make it look as good as possible. Is there an easy way to keep weeds out? Also, should I ever fertilize ivy? Thanks..Brian ???

Re: Growing Ivy

Mostly you need to rely on the ivy choking everything else out.  Ortho does make a product that kills grass without hurting most broad leafed plants.  Look for Weed BE gone Grass Killer.  I have only found it in small pre mixed spray bottles.  it does work.

On well established ivy, you could try Preen or other brands of stuff that inhibits sprouting once you have cleared out the weeds.

Any of your none burning fertilizer formulations should help ivy.
