sound on notebook distorted

i have a HP pavilion dv9000 and recently my sound is all distorted and it pops and crackles. i have tried to unistal and reinstall the driver and updating it. this does not fix the problem. does anyone know hot to fix it. if not is it possible for the speaker to pop? but i dont know how it popped as i dont blast my sound on it. any help would be appreciated. also i have contacted HP on the issue and even they couldnt fix it.
