Why do you think you need to? How do you get to the Internet? Why not just set your LAN adapter to automatically obtain an IP?

IP Address change if your TCP/IP is set to dynamic. If your using XP go to Start> Control Panel> Network Connection> Right click on Local Area Network> Click Properties> Highlight TCP/IP> Click Properties> Check if there is a mark on "Obtain IP address automatically".
