IBM 600X laptop memory question

Hello
I just ran the Microsoft Windows memory diagnostics program on my IBM 600X laptop and got the following results
MATST FAILED
INVC FAILED
LRAND FAILED
STRIDE6 FAILED
SCHCKR PASSED
CHCKR3 FAILED
WMATST FAILED
WINVC FAILED

I then removed the one removable memory card (the computer will hold two) that is in the computer and ran the test again with the exact same results.

So the problem is apparently in the 64 mb of non removable ram that the computer comes with. Can this ram be un-soldered and replaced? Can I get at it without taking the whole computer apart?,or is it time to shop for a new laptop - Larry

This may sound really silly, but what prompted you to run the Micro$oft mem tests in the first place ?
There may be a less drastic cause of action that can be taken before a major disassambly operation
