HP laptop not detecting USB port

Hi
I been using my USB port of my HP laptop to connect my MP3 player for an year. Suddenly my laptop stopped detecting the USB port when i connect the MP3 player
COuld you please tell me what would be the problem ?

Any changes that either happened or that you perhaps made to your computer around the time that the problem started; particularly any Software or Hardware that you installed or setup.

Have you tried another usb port to see if that would help?

Also see if you can connect to another computer to see if it is detected to maybe rule out the mp3 player

HI
I didnt install any new softwares or hardwares. I tested my MP3 player with all the 3 ports in my laptop . It didint work. But when i connected with other laptop it worked fine.

Ok, try any other usb device to see if the laptop will recognize it, could be printer, scanner, etc... just something USB

XP or Vista

Can check device mgr to see if any yellow marks present

When you checked it with another computer, did you use he same USB cable?
