It may seem dry but reading a dictionary works.
I have an online version that even has a "Word of the Day" feature.

You could also read more broadly - a range of different types of literature...
Or go through the dictionary/newspaper and make yourself weekly vocab lists to learn...
Crossword puzzles, as well...
