landline can make calls but not receive

my landline will make outgoing calls but will not recieve incoming calls, I did have an answer phone , & that ceased working for some unknown reason , so plugged in basic phone & still the problem persists

Call your house and see if it ring and rings, or rings busy?

Line may be forwarded.

I have seen the inside of Jacks and the line cord connections turn black/green,
on those, many times it will only ring once.
Unplug all phones and try a known good phone and line cord in a jack. If that doesn't work, try a known good phone with a good line cord and try in a different jack.

Look inside the jack to see if it is discolored.
