    Home Telephone
Hi, I just wonder if someone out there might know how to help me get a dial tone on a very old Binetone Eurotel 1000 phone. I bought it off e-bay and the instructions never arrived so I'm basicially 'stuffed' ! Any ideas please would be so helpful - thanks

    Hi,
I am not a telephone repair person, nor a technician in that area, but have done around the home telephone connections.
Is the telephone wiring that you are using to connect to the phone in good shape? In other words, connect another phone to the same phone "cable" wiring, and see if you have a dial tone.
If so, connect it to your "old" phone. There might be a setting on the old phone for "tone" or "pulse". If so, set it to "tone" might work. If that doesn't give a dial tone, they try setting it to "pulse".
Other than that, I'm all out of ideas. Maybe someone else can come up with a better answer!
I do wish you the very best, and good luck.

Some old phones are polarity sensitive. You may need to reverse polarity.
Red to green, and green to red.
If those 2 way's still don't work, Open phone, connect and follow the 48 volts.
Does voltage change when plugged in,
Does voltage change when off hook? Should drop to 6-9 volts.
RJ 11(regular phone plug) at end of cord? 4 Prong?
