Dial tone O.K. in shop no good at home

By accident I recently cut some what I thought was old unused wire in our home. Unfortunately it was telephone line! We have other jacks on different circuits so I plugged in the affected cordless telephone-there was power but no dial tone. I took the whole phone assembly to our local store, explained the situation and the guy somehow reset or re-configured the phone and base and in seconds there was a dial tone! I brought it home plugged it in and no dial tone! I'm trying to figure how he did it. He mentioned about disconnecting the phone, removing the battery, pressing the phone locator button on the base and re-connecting everything which is what I did but no joy. Please help. Yes the jack the phone is plugged in to is seviceable because it works with other phone. The phone is a Panasonic KX TG2411

So the same jack works with another phone but not this one?

Do you maybe have another cordless phone of the same make and model in the home?

Yes that's correct. Each battery costs 40 dollars here in Montreal so I don't want to fork out money for nothing.
