Chances of Hire after they send you for drug test?

Hi, I recently applied to a Company in the Automotive Industry, I have 4 ASE Certifications, and my A/C License to use auto refrigerant. They offered me $18.00/hr flat rate, had me sign off on my online resume saying all the info was correct that I filled out, said he had to run a criminal background check, and gave me the papers to take a drug test. Does that mean that I am going to get the job? I do not have a criminal background, a felony, nor do I do drugs. The company obviously must pay money to have these things done, so does that mean that I have the job? Thanks

Why did you not ask them ? Only they really know.
Normally yes, places don't do this unless you are either going to be offered the job, or unless you are in the top few on a very select position.
for example on a recent job interview, they were bringing 5 people back for polygraph and drug testing and background checks for 3 positions. I think 30 or so applied. So in this case, 3 of the 5 wll get a offer.

big companies can not afford mistakes, So they go through all of this so when they hire some one. they have a person that they can depend on. They don't have to worry about hiring a druggy or some one that is a trouble maker. With all of the civil rights now days, its easier to pay up front, then it is to try to get a deadbeat off the payroll. Also there may be ten or twenty people going thru the same thing as you. The company can not take six months or a year to find some one. Say a person retires, that spot must be filled. Unless they are down sizing. But then they would not be looking for you.
Lots of luck Jocko009
