Is it likely we will loose everything?

Hello, my dad lost his job today, and I am extremely worried. He says we will get unemployement money for about 2-3 months, after that we are going to have it rough. He has two college Degree´s. My mom and my dad both say we are not going to loose our house, cars or internet. However, due to my nature, I am very worried about this. I fear that we will loose the house, the cars, and internet, and have no food and die on the streets, this scares me. Internet may not sound like an important thing, but to me it is, it´s my window to the world. Even though they say we loose our house, cars or internet, I cant help but worry, I´ve taken my Zoloft today, but it doesn´t seem to be working. He usually made $1000-2000 a month working as a salesman for a raido station, this is the third job he has had in 2-3 years. It seems all he ever works for is radio. Is it likely we will loose everything? Please help!
Thanks

How old are you, and if are old enough can you work to help with the money? If you can, that will pay for your internet. We cant tell you if you will loose everything. How would we know that ?

Maybe he will get another job while he is collecting unemployment. Give him a break !

Here's the good news. If he can get unemployment, then he is probably eligible for food stamps. so food is not a problem. Depending on the state that you live in, unemployment is a percentage of what your dad makes, so with help from food stamps. it should be okay. He has savings, right? That will help you too.
Now the bad news. I used to be in radio, and I quit partly because I knew where radio was heading, with digital technology (MP3, CD's), and satellite radio taking over. and satellite programming for local stations, I saw the writing on the wall. I know what the sales staff at a radio station goes through, because I was right there with them at remotes.
Perhaps your father might be willing to expand his possibilities, and look at newspaper sales? He'd probably still see the same shop owners, and already have his contacts in place. Or maybe a sales job in automobiles, or take some real estate courses and sell houses. You guys can bounce back. It's not like you have a specific career like I have in cardiovascular technology, which limits me in the places I can apply. Don't take it so bad. If worse gets to worse, you can probably get internet at your local library. Cheer up! Stay positive, and that will help you the best. Take care, and let us know how it's going.

Convict Coach : I understand that you are only 15 BUT at your age your priorities should be more than the internet.

Well alot of good new, unemployment should be for about 6 months currently I believe And if you get to a point if you are not already there, you should get food stamps, heck if he was not making but 1000 a month you should have already been getting them.

BUT yes depending on the amount of the loan you could loose the house, I lost my house two years ago.

But the good news is there are always sales job out there. but if all he earns is 2000 a month, there are all sorts of jobs that pay at least that much

I forgot something, your dad could always ask some of his former clients if they'd have an opening for him on their staff. Encourage him to network, also encourage him everyday. You guys need to stay strong and positive and that will help uou survive any obstacles that may happen.

Hi, Isafjordur!

I can certainly understand your fears!

In addition to the answers that have already been given, does your dad have any others skills or things that you know he might be good at doing? If so, what might they be, please? Perhaps he could be self-employed.

I'm entirely self-employed and do a number of different things in order to make a living for myself.

Thanks!

I think you need to have a bit more faith in what your parents are saying at this point. They don't seem worried as yet. Perhaps ypu should ask them why they aren't worried about losing everything.
