Ex-con seeking security

I haven't been out of prison long-this time-And I'm not trying to go back. I'm looking for a union job or a city, county, or state job with a degree of financial security. No smiley faces, just an Angelino here in Southern California looking for direction.

Hello j:

I doubt you'll find something with the government and I don't think you'll find much that offers financial security.

I'm not trying to paint a negative picture here, but I think your expectations are too high. There IS work out there for excons. It's harder to find, but all that means is you have to work harder to find it.

If it were me, I'd stick to small mom and pop type of operations where you can talk directly to the man. With a record, you're not going to get passed most HR departments.

You can do it. Stay out of the joint.

Yes, you will have college grads with straight A and no record still looking for the same thing, With many college grads ending up at Walmart or McDonalds many times, just finding work is important
