Employment for felons in jackson, ms
I am a convicted felon looking for a job. Before my conviction I worked as an administrative assistant and then moved up to executive and on up to board of directors. I am very intelligent and out going, so I feel like I am just wasting away. I did not forget every thing I ever learned because I was convicted but I need a career, not a job. I am a single mother of one beautiful son that I can not support because I can not find gainful employment. The state of Mississippi has a fool proof re-entry programs for convicts, because most people have to support their families whether it be legally or not. I am one of the blessed few who did not burn any bridges with my family along the way so I do have help but I am a thirty year old woman and I need and want to support myself and my son. HELP PLEASE SOMEBODY! I am not practicing in any illegal activities or anything like that. I was just in the wrong place with the wrong people at the wrong time!

I can't speak of the labor laws in Mississippi, because I live in Florida, but have you tried the Department of Labor for your state? Perhaps they have experience in helping people in your situation. Best of luck!

Since you are now a convicted felon, going immediately into a desirable career for you might not be going to happen right away. Depending on what crime you committed, you may need to prove yourself to potential employers for the career after which you seek by getting and maintaining employment that might not be the most ideal for you, but is none-the-less employment that you could put on a resume and be able to say that you are and have been being a productive and supportive member of society and for your own family as well.

I live in Jackson MS too, and am looking for employment, so I understand your circumstances. Since you have not burned any bridges, why not seek out someone who can make a referral for you, perhaps someone from your church, or a church. Also might try some of those private agencies that advocate for social issues. Let me know if you're having any luck.

Yes, did your conviction have to do with any of your work places ?
What the conviction is for makes a large difference, But often you have to almost start all over again at a much lower job and work your way back up.
