Well what you are suppost to do is eat ice chips for about a week. That will make the swelling go down. I am not sure about the chocolate and dairy though.

Ohhh right! Cause I heard it can cause an infection. I ate ice for the first few days but apparently it stays swollen for the first week or something. Its not sore, just a bit akward lol.

You are on the right track, do not eat dairy and chocolate. Also, do not eat spicy foods, they can irritate the piercing and make it painful.

No matter what you eat, you need to wash your mouth out with alcohol free mouthwash after every meal.

I pierced my tongue 4days ago,and I haven't been eating.. expect yogurt, cold chocolate.. (lots of dairy products basically)now I've read that you shouldn't go near dairy products! all food carries bacteria though, and if you use mouthwash after to disinfect it won't the outcome be the same?

Ok well I've had it done a while now. I know what your suppose to do. DO NOT eat dairy. The milk can get into the piercing and go sour. Don't over do it with the mouthwash either. It can make your tongue turn green. So what you should really do is use alcohol free mouthwash twice a day. Eat some ice to keep the swelling down. And when you start to eat solids take them in small parts. Its easier that way. Anyway thanks for your help! Xx

It should be fine as long as you stop eating the dairy now. Dairy will cause it to flare up, and will cause the swelling to take longer to go away.

You can eat anything you want, except for three food categories :

    1. Spicy foods -- Tabasco sauce, hot chips, any kind of hot pepper, etc.

    2. Dairy -- Milk, yogurt, cottage cheese, ice cream, etc.

    3. Chocolate -- Solid chocolate or anything that contains chocolate.

Anything besides these 3 categories you can eat. You can continue to eat the things in these 3 categories after having the piercing for 1-2 weeks.

    Good luck! :)

The pus is normal that's your tongue healin DO NOT TRY TO CLEAN IT WITH YOUR HANDS OR BRUSH IT WITH YOUR TOOTH BRUSH. You'll just Irritate your tongue and make it swell more as far as dairy if u have been rinsing with mouth wash like your supposed to you should be good but stop eating it now dairy does cause your tongue to swell
