selling gold rings/scrap gold

I have a 14k yellow gold band and a 14k white gold double band that I would like to sell to help my fiance' and I pay for our wedding rings. What is the best way to sell and where? What should I ask or look for in order to not get ripped off? Should I get them appraised at the same place I am thinking of selling it to? The best info I could find for the Seattle area is to sell the gold to a coin shop. Would this be the best idea?

They wouldn't have a very high re-sale value at all as pieces of jewelry. I have a feeling that the gold would be worth more to someone who buys/sells per ounce than to a jeweler who also takes into account the re-sale value of the piece.

Unfortunately, the best way may be to sell it as scrap gold as many jewelers don't resell used rings. Like previously mentioned, best bet may be to get a price quote on your new rings from a jeweler, THEN mention you would like to trade those bands in, see what they offer.

Hello ,Gold is $652.00 per oz. fine. That's the market ,it will fluctuate in price when you get ready to sell, trade.

Do not ever pawn or sell your jewelry in a Pawn shop~!!!

Example if you have 10 dwt of 10k ,its market value is $120.84.

Manny buyers will offer 50% that's $60.42

If they offer you less ,your in the wrong place.

You should know and establish a good price for you and your metal.

The piece may be worth more or less to the buyer ,just depends on to many factors.

Remember it's your metal and it has value so you need to know it's value and then decide your best option.

If you want to trade ,do the purchase first.
Then ask about the credit they will give you for the trade---think about it....

Any and all answers given by me are for information only --not to be considered as advise.

Sorry, this post has changed, as of Sunday 3:30 pm central time.
Yes ,I edited this answer and removed some trade sensitive content.

Hope this helps

Hello, to sell your gold you need the weight and karat.
A 10k gold piece is around $10 - 12 a dwt or penney weight.
So if it weighs 1 dwt it's worth around 10-12 dollars.
That's it's scrap value.

I personally have used a ton of these companies. Usually I would just go to a pawn shop or sell it on eBay but when I did the time/value equation it all turned out pretty much the same. There is a good blog about these gold companies at theresagold.blogspot.com - Basically you're best bet is to go with a big company and one that sends offers before anything is final. Read a few posts on there it should help.

I use hardgoldcash.com this site is the most fair ( gives you the most for your gold !)

They are a recycler and their is no middleman getting his/her cut ! Check them out ! My friends have used them and we all were very pleased ! Note: they even give you 15 days to send back your check and get your Gold back if you are not happy ! I liked that !
