Tongue piercing and sport

I was thinking of getting my tongue pierced, I really want to get it done but I have a problem. I play rugby at least three times a week and im worried that theres a danger to my tongue and the piercing from playing rugby. Does any body have any experience or ideas that can give me some advice?

The overall best thing you can do would be to not get your tongue pierced. There is that slight risk that it could tear, or get ripped out completely.

If you do get it, you could put flexible jewelry in, that way if you bite it it wont hurt your teeth, but you can only change it after the 4-6 week healing period.
