| Gold Bangle marked Gold Shell Recently I purchased a gold bangle (at a garage sale/$3.00). Inside it is marked Gold Shell, under that 12K, under that F.&C. Co. It opens and closes via a slide bar which is also marked: F.&C. Co followed by a fleur de lis. The company must have been insignificant since reseach has turned up nothing. However, I continually find pieces by this manufacturer (on other web searches): watch fob chains, chateline (sp?) chains and numerous other bangles. Some of the other bangles are marked differently: have 12K but with some sort of fraction (i.e. 1/20). Mine does not have any fraction with the gold mark. My bangle is also different in that it has an applied filagree design with a space in the center where, once, there must have been a stone. All of the others that I find on the Net all have designs etched in the bracelet itself.
I am trying to date this bracelet. Since I can find no information about the manufacturer, is there some way I can get a "ballpark" date by using the gold markings (Gold Shell, 12K)? |
