What is DWT?

I have scrap gold, could someone explain What DWT is exactly when dealing with scrap gold?

There are approximately 14.5 troy ounces in an avoirdupois pound. Precious metals are always quoted in troy ounces (31.1 grams), as apposed to the standard avoirdupois ounce of 28 grams.

DWT means Dead Weight Tonnage. I don't think you have that much scrap gold.

DWT is an abbreviation for Pennyweight, which is 1/20 of an ounce. It is also abbreviated by PWT, but DWT is the more common.
