Vonage

In case you aren't aware, Vonage is planning an IPO. As part of that they are offering longer term customers the ability to purchase shares at the initial offering price. Since I qualify I have been thinking about investing a relatively small amount (about $1K). I think the offering price will be $14-16/share.

I'm wondering what other's opinions are of Vonage's and VoIP future. I'm most concerned that Vonage has yet to show a profit, though they are clearly growing.

I've been watching them, and have earmarked $500 to invest in them. I'm no analyst guru but am confident that in 10 years there will be more cable phone customers than traditional "land line" customers.

I'd say get in and get out and make a nice packet.
The Telecoms market, at least in the UK, is a really cut throat area.
Even in the USA it's getting very rough, with the likes of AT&T getting larger again and MCI being sold.
Judging from previous Tech IPO's you should get an excellent return on your investment.

That's what I was thinking. But I'm also concerned that the competition and the lack of turning a profit yet, might cause the IPO to fall flat.

tried to comment but it wold not let me,

But yes I would perhaps leave some in for a longer term, but it should jump high shortly after opening,

One note, TN just pasted a new law that all uses of such services as thier phone service, would have to start paying the 911 additional tax on thier bills. And one of the security companies will not use that service to tie in thier alarms.
( can we say Bell lobby against them perhaps)

If you could risk more I would say it is a good bet. ( risk, sorry priests can bet can they)
