| | | Transplated "cajun" in East-Central Fl. Hellow, everyone. I'm a born and raised cajun from South Louisiana. My wife, and partner(same person), and I moved here about 1 1/2 years ago when my job in Louisiana with a major defense contractor was eliminated, and we had to make the tough decision to live in a pup tent in the bayous, or move to Florida to relocate with the company. My wife thinks "roughing it" is a Holiday Inn Express, so it wasn't a tough choice. We have 3 sons, two of which are married and 2 grandchildren. I work in computer/network support and my wife runs an Ebay business from home. when it comes to old lawnmowers and tools, I'm a junk collector and keep having the false sense of optimism that "I can fix it" I have fun piddlin with old stuff........Have a good day!!: | | | | | | |

| thanks for the welcome, Val!! Glad to be here. We live in the Melbourne area, although about 10 miles inland. We moved to Florida, but we are not water people and don't care (and can't afford) to live next on the beachside. The people and the climate in Florida have been really great, BUT, we miss our families, who we are very close to on both sides. We were both born and raised in SW Louisiana (about 300 miles on the other side of the state from New Orleans). We have no family at all here and miss the spicy food and people of Louisiana. we do NOT miss the 5 million mosquitos that are a 12 month hazard in Louisiana. We probably will stay here about 10 years, until I can retire, then oddly enough, plan on retiring in NW Arkansas, in the Bella Vista area. We have good friends there, and they actually have 4 definable seasons. We would like it to be a little colder in the winter. You sound like you have had some definite "challenges" in your life, but have . I'm lucky in the fact that my wife is definitely my partner, lover, best friend, and soul mate, so as long as we have each other, we really are complete. However, it would be nice to be closer to home. We are also in our mid 50's and thru attrition have gotten rid of horses, dogs, and cats (the last one has been MIA for 3 days and we think she has "traded up"! Have a good day and think about this "Perception rules our thoughts and lives much more than reality does"................... |

| Thanks, for your reply Fr. Chuck. sometimes, people don't need professionals to help them. They may be lonely, depressed, sick, or just "up against the wall". In these cases, just having someone to listen to your problems can be a great help. I was raised in the Catholic Church, but my wife and I have been attending one of the Episcopal Churches here. I tell them I'm not converting from Catholicism, only on "permanent loan". Thanks for the welcome. Have a good day!! |

| Hi Jbourque,
Glad to hear you have friends in Bella Vista. For a minute there, I thought Erik Estrada had sold you a house plot as well. He's barely had a job since CHiP's! I guess I just stay up way too late and see far too many infomercials. Anyhow, welcome! Great to have you. |
