Hi everyone, I am new to this site and would just like to introduce myself. I am a 37 year old married mother of two. We live in Canada in the province of Alberta and are battling a very cold winter with lots of snow. I was born in Germany but my parents immigrated to Canada in 1974, thank goodness or I never would have met my husband . I am an only child and had, in my opinion, the best parents to ever walk the face of the earth. I lost both my parents to cancer in 2001, they died 6 months apart, it was the most difficult time of our lives. This time of year is always very hard for us, this year there is the added sorrow of having last my mother-in-law in March, I never met my father-in-law he passed away when my husband was in his early teens, both sets of parents died of cancer, it is a horrific disease.

We love animals and have the numbers to prove it; 2 dogs, 3 rabbits, 1 bird, 1 fish and until last week 1 hamster (she passed away at the ripe old age of 2). We get most of our pets from the shelter or they are given to us by other people who no longer want them. I always tell my husband that if we won the lottery I would start a no-kill shelter for animals, he jokingly says that we already have.

I am very involved in my children's lives, they are 9 and 5 and driving me absolutely crazy because of the Christmas season. Christmas is definitely for children.

Anyway, that's it in a nut-shell. I look forward to meeting new people and maybe even disagreeing with some of you. It is nice to be able to talk to educated, intelligent people, I've missed having that as a constant in my life. Take care and talk to you soon.

Andrea

Thank you all for the warm welcome. As you can probably tell I tend to get a bit "wordy" in my posts, I basically told you everything but my height and weight. I am 5'11" tall, but I'll leave you guessing about the weight, a women has to have some secrets LOL.
