introduction

i am new to this an unsure if i am even submitting this in the right location. please be patient with me. my name is barbara and i am a 51 years old licenced professional clinical counselor. i currently work at a non profit professional counselling facility. i mainly deal with children and adolescents. i also work with families and facilitate group therapy with children in crisis. i have done extensive work in the past with domestic violence and chemical dependency groups, primarily court ordered, and parenting classes. i really enjoy my work.
my name sadiesmom is really about my new puppy (sadie). i have a 22 year old son and he is currently living in overland park with his wife who is pregnant with my first grandbaby. i am very happy about this. right now sadie (my new puppy) is my favorite hobby. i currently live in kentucky but i am from south texas. i miss the beach very much; but, i love the atmosphere here in kentucky. it is so laid back. i think kentucky has me spoiled. it is a very different culture then what i am used to; but, i am enjoying getting used to it. my son and his wife are doing a good job of convincing me to move to kansas however. i mainly dont like the idea of changing jobs because i love my job and the people i work with. they really care about people and doing quality care. i think i am blessed working with the best. but i want to be with my son and grandchild. i found this place by accident...i was searching about pointer dogs and found the ask me site. i thought it was to ask questions about your dog

Welcome.

We do have a pet forum here. Overall, it's just a general question and answer site with many different boards. There are a whole lot of us regulars here, and you're bound to get some really good advice from many people. It's a great site, I think you'll enjoy it. It's good to have you here.

Thank you for your encouragement! It is kind of strange posting when I don't know any one and no one knows me. I hope my responses will be taken in the manner I intend. I like to cut up a lot and I believe a good sense of humor is important. At least that is what helps me get by (lol). I believe we all need a lot of leeway and room for error. I know I do (lol.)

Welcome Barbara, I too am a new member. You responded to my question about cold, selfish mom. Yes, I know she does not control my self worth. I have decided to cut all ties, as have my other siblings. I do not care about the monetary value of my brothers estate, it is the fact that she lied, and we have the proof from court records, she still lies. We do not want the money and would be willing to sign any document stating that if that is all she is worried about. You are probably correct as far as she will never change, aside from a miracle occuring! I guess it could happen, but will definitely not hold my breath. So sad though, as I don't like things the way they are, and I am so different from her as far as my children and grandchildren go. Thank goodness! However, I'd have a lot more money if I were like her! lol Thank you for your response, and we'll just wait and see what happens I suppose. She refuses to call though and my father is gravely ill, and we are in fear she will not contact us if something happens, but we cannot take her telling us we are fat, or our hair is a mess, or our clothes look like crap, or saying bad things to my grandchild about her teeth (she was 3 or 4 at the time) etc. Not worth the pain it causes, because we certainly will never figure out why she is so critical of others. Well, there's plenty of need here for your skills, so welcome. We'll be glad for all the help we can get, but after doing it at work all day, it may be too much to ask that you spend your evenings online doing more of it, so moderation in all things. I raise beef cattle for a living, and my cows hardly ever come to me with emotional or relationship problems, so I'm fresh as a daisy when I sit down at the computer.
