| | | My introduction Hi all,
I was surfing the net on the co-relation of addiction with prescription drug and I think this website is pretty reliable with a lot of experts in the different fields.
My profile is as follows :
Okay lets start with where I come from. I am from Singapore and a fully qualified yoga teacher who has been practising since 1997.
The common question that people will ask I become a yoga teacher. The answer is very simple -- I was suffering from stress related panic attacks in my last year in college and was prescribed valium that the GP considered it as trivial.
However, I find that the pills made me feel like a zombie after taking them and I did not know whether I was asleep. In the end , I sought for my own solution. I took up meditation to help me change my mindset and from there everything just flows.
I have studied with various Yoga Masters over the world and is willing to provide any information regarding drug abuse in relation to addiction.
In 2001: I had 2nd degree in Australia and studied the hypnotic effects of the various narcotics and how harmful they can be when consumed even for the first time.
As a Yoga teacher till now , I always believe that the first course of action for doctors should not prescribe drugs freely or at least they should monitor the patients and suggest alternative therapies instead of just giving them out like candies. Its sad to see one the drugs that one lady is taking stilnox and totally to get by day by day. Hopefully, she is alright and this is the reason why I am in the forum now.
I am certified in Yoga therapy from India and Beginners' and Intermediate Yoga Instructors' training course in Singapore by the California Fitness Centers.
I do hope that I will be able to help people here in the forum.
Blessings to all,
Merlinda | | | | | | |

| Welcome to AMHD.
I've been thinking about taking up yoga. A friend of mine is dating a yoga instructor, she's well known in LA and recommended that I try it because of my thyroid condition.
Sadly I'm in an area that doesn't have many legitimate yoga classes, so I'm searching and trying to find the time.
Welcome aboard. This really is a great site, the people here are amazing, the experts and everyone else. We all have something to offer and this is a real community, a family if you will.
I look forward to seeing you on the boards. |

I look forward to seeing you on the boards. | Thanks for welcoming me to the family because I am always willing to give a helping hand offer whatever advice that anyone needs.
Anyway regarding the fact that you want to take up Yoga classes for your thyroid condition, I think its a good idea as there are some poses that will be beneficial to you. If you let me know where is your exact location, I am sure I can tell you which are the great and legitimate centers in Canada because I know there is a very reputable one in Canada itself and I may fly there next year to study with one of the teachers.
So let me know and thanks for welcoming me to the family as well.
With love and blessings |

With love and blessings | I'm in Alberta, specifically, Edmonton. I've searched and found a few, but their hours don't work with mine.
I really am interested. I should start a thread about this, I don't want to hijack your introduction.
So for now I'll just say welcome and I hope to see you on the site. |

Thanks for welcoming me on board on AMHD.
I have no doubts that of your "disclaimer" that I will soon get 'hooked' on AMHD . And this is the reason why I am so much into helping people to heal from ADDICTIONS -- haha
But I perfectly conclude that AMHD will be a great and healthy addiction and I don't mind any bit at all.
And yes, I am starting to find myself really interested to the people in this forum because I can see a lot of interesting experts here who give very great support and ideas of any issue under the sun.
Geez , I just bumped into this forum when I was thinking that everything is kinda stale in others ( Well, my wish has been granted by my own Genie in a bottle with my wish " how can i help more people with their healing process and also how can I be motivated to continue in a forum?)
aaaaaaaahhh, now I am truly at peace ...... |
