IT dinosaur

I'm a dinosaur to the computer age. I started on IBM punched card systems in 1953; programmed IBM's 305 RAMAC for a bi-weekly payroll and monthly P&L statements for cafeterias and snack bars at government buildings in Washington DC in 1959. This was accomplished with a random access storage system (IBM's first) consisting of 50 discs in a rotating stack accessed by an arm with a read/write head and had the capacity of 5 (five) megabytes total.

I became a professional photograper in the late '70s. I avoided computers until 12 years ago and am astounded at the new technology, not to mention the internet.

Hello, Good Evening and Welcome to the forum.
This remins me of the first proper computer I used.
I was at my Dad's work and had a Winchester hard drive with a massive 30 Meg of storage and even a dot matrix printer.
I have no idea what the offivce used it for but I tried a little ACSII art on it

I first started with punchcards too, then on to Cobol which I promptly forgot. I remember fondly playing with Basic on teletype terminals.
