It depends on the type of job you are going for. Basically, employees would be asking questions that will give an indication as to whether you are trustworthy, punctual, ethical.

Eg: If they petty cash count was over by $20.00, what would you do about it?
A: Pocket the $20.00 - This answer would indicate that you are untrustworthy
A: Ask my manager what to do - This answer would indicate that you are unable to think for yourself
A: Recount the till, reconcile my records, if I am still out THEN I would ask my manager what to do, but in the first place I would ensure that the till wouldn't be out by keeping up to date with reconcilling the float so that if something is missing, I can be on top of it straight away. - This answer will give you top marks - it outlines that you are proactive, able to think for yourself, and you are honest.

A big trend right now is to ask "negative" questions.

IE:
"What is the biggest problem you encountered at your last employeer and how did you deal with it?"
"How did you handle working with other employees who you don't personally care for?"
"What is your worst attribute?"

What is your previous experience in that field?
Have you had any previous jobs if yes, why did you leave them?
Thy could be creative and sometimes ask "what do you believe is you one fault?" --never answer this negatively.
They might ask you what attracted you to the job.
and questions like that- i hope it helped!

It does depend on the job but I can tell you what I pretty much always asked when I interviewed:

1) What is your biggest strength? What is your biggest weakness?
2) Why do you want this job -(this is big one that most HR people now ask make sure you have an answer)
3) What has been your favorite job and why? What have you liked least?
4) Why do you think I should hire you? (I always felt if you couldn't give me a good one then I shouldn't)

Most important of all - relax when your in an interview and project some confidence. Smile and be easy about it. for me I went on personality and if someone came across as happy and confident it went along way.

Also I can speak from being in HR - we want to hire someone, we want every interviewee to be the right candidate. Its worth it to us to find the right fit. We are on your side. We are trying to gather as much information as possible to make sure we're making the right decision.

good luck! I hope you ace your interview.

Here are some usual questions asked by employer during the interview:
-Why do you consider you are suited for this job?
-What do you know about our company?
-Why do you want this job?
-Which are your strong points?
-Which are your weak points?
-What motivates you?
-Which were your duties during your last job?
-What would you do in a certain situation?
-Talk about yourself, your cv, experience at other companies.
Dress properly, speak polite, don't smoke. Bring a copy of your cv with you. Be honest in what you're saying.

Just to add to the "Don't do list".. Don't chew gum. Many people believe it to be very rude.

UGH! That is MY biggest pet peeve. I used to want to leap across the desk and rip it out of their mouths.

Also, if you smoke be 100% certain you do not smell like smoke (and don't spray yourself with cologne or perfume to cover it). That is a very big pet peeve of most HR people.
in that same vein don't wear cologne or perfume and if you do apply it lightly.
