Ophthalmology. wow such a big word. If one is an ophthalmology doctor the career is already made. My aspiration would have been enough on becoming a doctor.

Ophthalmology is a medical specialty with numerous subspecialties, including neuro-opthalmology, oculoplastics, refractive surgery, and pediatric opthalmology. If I'm not mistaken, some subspecialties are categorized anatomically like cornea and retina, some classified by diseases such as cataract, glaucoma, and uveitis.

I guess in the present day and age an ophthalmologists needs to be more than a cataract surgeon. I do not know where you reside but here in India there is something people do in Retina (my dad had to consult one). There are also plastic surgeons specialising in eyes or eye surgeons specialising plastic surgery ( I do not know which way it is). A friend of mine was involved in an accident and had injury to the eyelid and this specialist surgeon had attended. So I guess if you are interested in either you could express your aspirations for it. Rest of the technical stuff I am sure you are more informed than anybody. Hope this helps.
