The questions they ask might be straight forward or they might be more subjective and opinion based. They'll focus on two areas:

1 - Your technical skills. They'll want to acertain that you have the technical knowledge to do the job. Your resume got you the interview (hopefully!), now they need to know your knoweldge can be applied. Maybe you'll write a little exam or expalin how you'd go through troubleshooting a problem. You might role-play with the interviewer being a caller.

2 - Your "soft" skills. They'll want to know that you will fit into their company culture and the IT department, and can deal with the type of people you'll be talking to. Maybe you'll write about a situation where you had to deal with a "problem" customer. Maybe you'll role-play dealing with an angry caller.

You should know who is calling this helpdesk. Is it the general public, or is it only internal employees of the company? Are these tech savy people? You'll tailor your attitude and approach to go with your target audience.

Take the time to understand the questions, then be prepared to give a confident answer and explain why your answer makes sense.
