Outlook Express

How do I retrieve files once Outlook express has Auto compacted them. I want to get information from the files that went off my screen. Is there a path to locate these files.???? Aljay

Hi,
Are you asking about the archieved files? If your outlook is set to archieve old files, all those files will be in the Archive folder. You can find this folder under "All Mail Folders". Archieve folder will have an Inbox, Sent items and Deleted items sub folders.

Can not find what you mentioned. The folders compacted when I turned the computer on 4 days ago without me reading the contents. I can not find the "all mail folder" cant find an archive folder. Is there a hidden folder in Windows that stores these files?? I am new at this game and need directions.

Thank you

Aljay

Hi,
Have you tried this?
Open Outlook Express. Then at the top, click on View, then click on Current View, then click on Show All Messages.

Not sure if it will solve the issue, but worth a try.
Best of luck.

I'm not sure if this is the answer but on IMAP servers, selecting to "compact" messages basically removes all messages marked for the trash and deletes them. If this is what you have done - then these emails are lost.

Hi,
I agree with the answer right before this one. After much Searching, I can find nothing about "un-compacting" messages after using the "compact" messages. I also think they have been deleted.
I also use Outlook Express, but do NOT use the "compact message" options. I much prefer to do my own manual deletions, and maintenance.
