You Have To Go Person By Person!!! Thats The Only Way...when I Made The One That I Have For All Local Music In Cleveland I Had To Go Band To Band And Person To Person...i Couldnt Just Click On Everyone And Say Ask Them All To Be My Friends. It Sucked To Let Me Tell You

Sounds like spamming to me. Its possible someone has written a bot that can do it. But I still wouldn't do it if I were you. Spamming has a way of backfiring on you.

i didn't feel spammed when i recieved invites from shops and bands. if people don't want friend requests why would they join myspace in the first place?
suppose i'll just do it person by person then...

As I understand it friend requests are to meet people, not be solicited to shop at a store or buy a bands music. The definition of spam is unsolicited commercial mail.

If you get mail that involves an offer to buy something that is spam. In my opinion that is not what MySpace is for. If you send such requests you are spamming and there are laws against that.
