MSN messenger copying emoticons

I've been used to the abiliity to copy emoticons in my MSN Messenger.

However, I recently bought a new PC and although using the latest version of Messnger I find I can not now copy emoticons being used by other of my friends???? So frustrating!!

I've looked at all the usual settings to see if there is an obvious option box to tick - but so far no luck!! Does anyone have any suggestions please????
