IE   About:blank

Well I read all the queeries and didnt see my problem.
While surfing I get redirected to an annoying search engine page ( about:blank) with 2 or 3 spyware pop-up ads.
The desired page will load for 1 sec and then I end up on( about :blank). this will occur when using links on my home page msn.com. as well as going directly to a site ie. espn.com. This problem occurs on about 20% of sites I regularly attempt to view.

The help desk @msn recommended ad-aware6 to solve my issue. NFL

Ive run ad-aware6 numerous times as well as my virus software without success.

Im running windows ME, IE6 on a DSL

Any Tips?

Re: IE   About:blank

Well my personal opinion is deal with it, your running windows ME! gezz ME is the worst possible OS out there id rather use Win98 any day of the week! Get a new OS mate and you'll be right.

Regards~ ;D

Re: IE   About:blank

Try running spybot, see if that picks anything up...

Oh, and yes, windows me is a bad OS. But IMHO it's not worth the money to "upgrade" to windows xp as it will be slower, and you will lose compatibility with some old applications, AND it will set you back $100 or so...

Re: IE   About:blank

I don't bother with spybot, virus checking, or any of that stuff. I never have any of those problems. I am using Linux on this computer and Mac 7.6 on my other one. Some flavors of Windows are worse than others, but it is all a Microsoft problem. Changing OS is a solution.

All right, since you started the flaming, I'm just going to have to flame back.

This problem is _your_ fault.

* You shouldn't be running Internet Explorer
* You shouldn't be running with Administrator priviledges

And above all:
* You can't STFW:

Google is there for a reason. If you had used it first, you wouldn't be wasting your time flaming people here who try to help you.

But I do know, and so does labman: if you weren't using windows/IE, you wouldn't be having this problem. Don't pick up the flamethrower just because our solution isn't one you like. If you want to stay with a legacy micorosft operating system, that's your business. But don't get mad when someone tells you it's a rather bad idea.

Please think before flaming.
