I have Windows XP and for an internet browser I'm using Microsoft Internet Explorer. What I need help with is: I need to learn how to block X-Rated sites. I found out how to block a specific website BUT I need to know how to put a limit on web searching. PLEASE HELP!

Easiest way with IE is the content advisor.

• Open IE
• Click on Tools >> Internet Options
• Click on the content tab
• In the "Content Advisor" section, press enable.
• Look through the settings and change what is required. I recommend setting a password
• Hit the OK button and then OK in the Internet Options to get back to the browser and try it out.

I would not recommend using content Advisor. You will find yourself restricted from sites you may want. The main problem with Content Advisor, is that the ratings system it uses is seriously flawed.

Frankly there is no real good way to block objectionable sites totally. You can add specific sites as Restricited sites under Security. You can use a filtering utility like Cyberpatrol, but the best method is supervision.

One of the best ideas IMHO was the proposal to have a top level domain of .sex. or .xxx. Then you could just block those domains. The problem with that is there is no way to require such sites to use that domain. The objection to it was that it would make it easier to find such sites. Personally I think its plenty easy to find them now, but harder to block them. And if, the world's governments agreed, site operators could be forced to use that domain or suffer penalties.

Hi,
Other than trying the Internet Explorer blocker, path given by another post, is about the only "free" way to do it.
I do suggest using the free trial given by the same post, for 14 days, see if you like it, and see if it does what you want it to do.
I don't know of any free software that will do it.
I also have not tried the Internet Explorer Content Advisor, so don't know how effective it is.
