newbie building a website.

ok. I'm building an online discipleship website for girls. A WebsiteBuilder Website It has a "hey we're working on building the page" message up there. I've played with publisher and I have dreamweaver but honestly my husband and I have no idea where to start. I want to put up forums like this page is set up along with pages where people can see what's going on and have a news page and pictures, buy shirts and all the normal type thing. I really like how this is set up where members can log in and have their own profile. Is there a template for something like this or am i going to have to hire someone since apparently i'm clueless? we're hosted with 1&1 and they don't have a good forum template. Help. Thanks.

It looks like you're hosting with 1&1 ... go to the control panel, and look for the section where you can add applications (sometimes this will be in a section on a page; some hosters use an application called Fantastico to add applications to your site). Chances are there's a bulletin board application or two provided by 1&1; some of the more common ones are Vanilla, SMF, phpBB. If you're not sure, give them a call. That way you won't have advertising on your site (and the possibility of inappropriate content popping up in an ad - the Free Forums for You site isn't clear about what kind of advertising they allow).

Within your WebsiteBuilder site, you'll need to create a page to connect to the forums. That's typically done in one of two ways these days: by a redirect to an outside page, or by inclusion of the external page's content in what's called an iframe. It's not difficult to do. If it's not clear from the WebsiteBuilder documentation how to do this, give your 1&1 support number a call.

Vasily

1&1 has a basic CGI that I used to set up a forum but i never published it online because it's incredibly plain and doesn't let people sign in like I'd like them to. I checked out the free forum site but I am worried about the ads on there. This is a Christian website and it's important that any ads are clean. Plus I'll have to set up a separate domain. I'm not totally opposed to using it if it's my only option until I can find a way to put one up on my site. Thank you.

You were right!! 1&1 has phpBB. I didn't see it before because it was an application that had to be installed with a separate sub domain. You guys Rock. Thank you!!

I don't want to get annoying here but I have another question. When I go to my website it says a websitebuilder website. How do I change that? I'd like it to say like Zahab Heart or something like that.

That's the browser title. I don't use Website Builder, but there should be a place in there where you can set the browser title from its default value (which is apparently "A WebsiteBuilder Site"). There's probably a site or project setup page, I'd check that as well as the program's preferences; you'll find a field somewhere with that text in it.
