| I would contact the US Customs office and ask them for a suggested agent over there. Also, you may try asking the Chinese embassy for a suggestion. There are about 5 million to choose from and most of them are changing names, going in and out of business and operating illegally. There are thousands of agents in China that are "flagged" by the US government because their business has been proven "questionable". if you pick one of these agents, then you can always expect delays and fees or fines. China is so corrupt and often companies find that they have been "bent over" so to speak when they find their own on the internet, etc... The agent that you use needs to be well connected because he is going to need to "grease the wheels" so to speak in China to fix problems. A good agent also has good contacts to help you with your trucking and shipping. I would also recommend asking who your supplying company in China recommends. Then take that name and contact the Chinese Embassy on that person's reputation. Remember, in China everyone has their hand out. The question should be who has had their hand out for the longest time successfully...
Always ask for a business license from you prospective agent and then send it over to the Chinese Embassy for verification. Just asking for a business license will weed out about 98% of the "bad" or "illegally" operating agents. |
