I wold like to lay a few feature tiles on top of wall tiles just laid. Possible?

I have just had a kitchen renovation completed and am not happy with the tiles surrounding my stove top. I would like to 'improve' it by adding a few feature tiles on the top. It looks great, but I am not sure if tile can be laid on tile.

Are you looking for some kind of 3d mosaic? Or are you covering completely 1 tile with another?

I am liking the look of the texture of lying tiles in a diamond shape over the intersection. Do I make sense?

If you want to install accent tile, you have to remove existing tile in that area. Install new tile in diamond shape and fill in voids with original tile.
