windows in Load bearing walls

I have a load bearing wall with a door and a picture window in it. I would like to remove the window and the door, can this be done without to much trouble???Also, if I can remove the window, what about the space below the window to the floor, can it be safely removed also?

If this is a load bearing wall the door and window already have headers installed. You can remove the door and/or window and just fill in the space with studs. The space under the window can safely be taken down to the floor but what are you planning for that rather large opening?
