What to put on my stairs!
I am putting laminate flooring on my living room floor but I have a multi-level house so I'm wondering what to do with the stairs - it's not recommended to put laminate on the stairs so I'm looking for any pics of people who may have laminate with carpetted stairs! I can't picture how it would look!
    Thank you,
    Bev

I can't give you what you're looking for regarding carpet... but just a thought for consideration. Paint the stairs a color that either blends in with the laminate or contrasts nicely.

I have pergo kitchen floors and then carpet on the stairs and it looks great. I don't have a picture but I wouldn't think it's a problem.

Thanks Rick. That's an idea. I guess I'll have to wait to see what shape the stairs are in when I remove the carpet though. I really don't want carpet on the stairs. I appreciate your advice. Bev

I'm just curious to see how it looks first in case I go that way. Would love to see some pics. Where the stairs are in the middle of the room, I just can't picture how it would look. Thanks for your response though! Bev

Hi Bev... you mean a pic. Like this?

If this is close... I found it by going to aol.com and then typed in carpeted stairways in the search bar. Then above the search bar the word image is present... click on that and 100s of pictures will pop up to explore (page after page after page)...

Can start by clicking on this link:

AOL Image Search results for "carpeted stairways"

Don't be afraid to try different search/image terms... carpet and wood stairways, etc... Let me know if we can help with anything else...

I can take a picture tonight and send it over. I think it looks great, but that's me. There is carpet in the living room and then the kitchen is pergo and then the stairs are carpet. I'll shoot a picture over

You can actually use laminate on stairs but they tend to be slippery and noisy. They sell accessory items like transition strips right in the same aisle. Look closely and some of those strips will be labels stair nose. I do not like or install laminate on stairs but wanted you to know all the facts. I've been going through a similar dilema. I'm installing hardwood flooring in my living room, but my wife wants carpet on the stairs so our future kids won't fall as easily. I really didn't want carpet on there stairs so we're comprimising... carpet is being installed, but only on the treads, not the risers. I will paint the risers white. It's not done this way often and I hope the installer does a good enough job so that the carpet doesn't pull up. I've seen it a couple of times and I think it looks pretty good.

Here's an example of what we might do...
