| tile over formica Hi Jennifer:
It appears that you are trying to save time and effort. However, considering the amount of additional trouble that you could run into (adhesion problems, countertop overhang compatibility, particle board sagage...), I would just go through and replace the formica top with 3/4 inch plywood and 1-3 layers of cement board. Formica tops are easty to remove, they usually can be unscrewed from inside the cabinet, plywood comes precut to 24 inches, which is perfect for countertops. The (apparent) additional effort outweighes the potential problems. Good luck! Josef |
