I just installed a laminate floor in a kitchen on top of an inch and one half sub floor.

The bottom of our Andersen vinyl clad sliding glass door barely clears the floor and this without any threshold.

The door wheels are set at their highest position and the top of the door rubs against the header.

I know I can cut about a half inch off the top of the door to gain clearance but can I somehow add a spacer in the wheel well to raise the wheels to provide clearance at the bottom? Do you think this will still allow the door to lock?

I'm a bit confused. You installed the floor under the doors? Does your door unit have a bottom track the rollers sit on?
Maybe I'm missing something in your expaination.

The door sits on a metal plate with a raised rail. The bottom of the door has two two sets of rollers that can be raised or lowered to provide enough clearance to move the door easily. This is accomplished by turning a screw on the outside of the door. They are all the way raised. The laminate floor butts up against the edge of the plate. The width of the door brings it into the area where the laminate floor was laid.

The floor was installed with the door on the rail because the first plank installed was just laid flat, sort of snugged under the door. The problem is the clearance from the laminate plank to the bottom of the door is barely enough to allow the door to slide. This is without the threshhold.

OK, now I understand. When you said w/o threshold I thought you meant w/o the doors threshold (metal plate)

Is it possible to remove the operating door and bevel the bottom edge of the door with out it looking bad?

If you raise the door too high now you have to worry about insects, weather and whatever else can crawl under the bigger gap.

I believe so, in fact I can shave off the top to provide the necessary clearance.

Another thought is to add a spacer to the rollers where they screw in so they will become lower in the door. I think I have a weekend project.
