Shower door installation

I built a new bathroom in my basement and am now preparing to install a shower door. The door will be installed over 12x12 ceramic tile on top of cement wonderboard. To install the track to the walls, the instructions say to drill holes through the tiles with a 5/16 mansonry drill bit. My question is, will a masonry bit cut through ceramic tile? Again, these are the 12x12 variety so they are a little thicker than the 4x4 tiles. Thanks!

you could drill your tile with a masonary bit....mark the location... get small piece of wood; make a 5/16 hole ( same bit??)... then use this wood to hold the bit at the marked location.... then drill slowly.............. make sure you use stainless steel screw....
