Sounds like the basement floor was dug out lower than the footer. Hope it wwas done correctly.

Try cellular PVC moldings. They are flexible and can be heated to bend further

If the CRACK is 1" or 2" wide, you have a serious settling problem or frost is lifting your floor.

I don't think you'll find 5/8".
Go with 1/2" if the thicker isn't available

Get TUBULAR aluminim at a metal supplier. It should come in several recutangular sizes.
Another option is CELLULAR PVC LUMBER. This is available at home improvement stores.

Tile adhesives are more of a mortar.
I'd use the stuff they recommend.

See if the wood is loose or soft with a screwdriver. If it feels as "hard" as the undamaged area, you are probably fine leaving it alone.

The Woolite 2 can system works great. Just spray it on and it comes out perfectly clean

Make sure you have a 1'4 inch space left for expansion. This gets covered with shoe molding later.

Look outside to see if there is a ridge vent and soffit vents in the existing roof. Without good ventilation you'll get ice dams.
Try a ceiling fan on low to bring the hot air down from the peak....

Hole saw with carbide edges. Use one with a long handle for control so it doesn't jump away and scratch everything
