replacing parital gyproc and tile in a shower stall

We live in a high rise condo. The unit above us had a flood. It lasted about 20 minutes before they stopped it. We have significant damage. The shower in the ensuite off the master bedroom now needs fixing. The shower floor is now squishy sounding and when you step on it you hear water running down the drain. The ceiling directly above the shower is discoloured, and bowed out....obviously water-logged. The building insurance and restoration people say they are just going to replace the ceiling and then cut out the shower pan and the first two feet of tiles from the pan upwards. I am assuming gyproc will have to come out or will come out with the tile. The insurance company and restoration company want to reuse all the tile....the same tile is used over the bathtub across the room and it no longer available in stores. So here is my question, how is it possible to cut out two feet of gyproc and tile and then replace gyproc and the same tile (scraped clean and gyproc soaked off) without taping gyproc to gryproc? And is that possible?

thanks,
GJL
