removing a venetian plaster faux finisher from plaster walls

removing a venetian plaster faux finisher from plaster walls

We live in an older house with plaster walls. On one of our walls in the dining room there is a faux bick area made from venetian plaster. How do I remove this without doing a ton of damage to the original wall?
