We are in the process of having a new home built and there is a Lasco (fiberglass) walk in shower in the bathroom. We had told the builder that we did not want a sliding door on the shower but wanted a door that swings open (without a header on top since my husband is 6'3 and no tracks like the sliding doors have) or no door at all.

Well, he installed a sliding shower door (with header) on the shower. This is not what we wanted and we told him about it about 4 weeks ago when we saw it. He said that he would have to see if he could find a shower door that swings open that will fit into the same holes that were drilled into the shower for the sliding door otherwise there was nothing that could be done about it.

Worse case senario we are stuck with that sliding door with the header and that darn track at the bottom which we both hate and I will simply have to remove the door myself when we move in and install a shower curtain. (needless to say, he won't be getting paid for that door!)

Can those holes be properly repaired and the bottom track removed and that part of the shower repaired without having a (water/leaking) problem in the future?

Any suggestions would be Greatly Appreciated.

You can remove the door unit. You can fill the holes in w/ silicone caulking. There are companies that repair fiberglass.

If you get a new shower door unit, the wall tracks should cover over the old holes so dont worry about covering the holes.
All shower doors I have replaced, the old holes were covered over by the new wall tracks. (and no, the new holes never lined up w/ the old)

I think the guy is giving you a load of crap by saying he has to find a swinging door that will cover the holes.
